Stourbridge v Cinderford preview - Sat 18 Feb - KO 3pm

Cinderford in Local Derby v Stourbridge Saturday 18 February (KO 3pm, SSE National League 1)

This weekend Cinderford RFC travel to Stourbridge in what promises to be a tough game, with both sides determined to get those points in a must-win game.

"This week game, as always, is a massive game for us. We have to treat it like a cup final as it will have a dramatic affect on the league, with Stourbridge fighting for their lives in the drop zone. Coupled with this we have not played for two weeks, a break we did not necessarily want as we were in great form before the enforced break," said Andy Deacon, director of rugby.

"The training has been going well in the build up to the game, with the guys, as ever, working their socks off and striving to improve, and take on board the coaches' requirements. We need to have a good platform to ensure decent ball to allows us to have continuity into our game.

This is near as we get to a local derby, so I expect our loyal supporters to travel in numbers to the game, and of course without any rugby for a while they will be looking forward to the occasion.

The team shows one change from last week's cancelled game against Wharfedale, with Sam Wilkes coming into the side and Tom Bozzard moving to the bench, enabling player/coach Lee Fortey to concentrate on his coaching role.

For those unable to travel to the national 1 fixture, we have a double header and afternoon of great rugby for local fans at our home ground, with the Cinderford Colts playing Redruth Colts in the National Cup 4th round kicking off at 12.30pm followed by Cinderford United against Richmond at 3.00pm (£1 entry). Good luck to all our teams."
