IN A pulsating and thoroughly entertaining final at Regentsholme, Newent beat holders Cinderford Stags to win the Forest of Dean Combination Junior Cup for the second time in three seasons.
Last year’s winners Cinderford Stags won through to the final of the FOD. Combination Junior Cup with a victory over Berry Hill United. Stags outside-half Morgan Goodall, returning from a long injury lay-off, was in great form, scoring two tries and kicking two conversions and a penalty.
On a day ideal for rugby in the picturesque part of Gloucestershire, two very good teams put on a display for running rugby. Cleeve playing with the slope opened up the scoring when their fullback kicked a penalty from their own 10 meter line.
Scrum-half Patrick Worgan scored the only try of the match as The Stags edged past a very determined challenge from Drybrook United in the first round of the FOD. Combination Junior Cup.
On Saturday 22nd October Cinderford Stags continued their fine form with a 65-19 victory over Chosen Hill 2.
