Cinderford Match Report

Old Patesians 20 Cinderford 15

Cinderford Under 16s travelled on Sunday to Cheltenham Old Patesians, and after some recent heavy defeats it did not look to promising when they arrived with only 15 players.

Playing with the elements and down the slope Cinderford went down 15 - 0 at the interval. Soon after the interval Old pats moved further ahead with an unconverted try in the corner, which was against the flow of the game.

Cinderford sprang into life and playing against the wind kept the ball in hand and put several flowing moves together to move within range of the Old Pats line.

Rob Green broke from a ruck and drove old Pats defence back 15 meters to score an unconverted try.

Further pressure from the Cinderford forwards saw Damo Marshall score in the corner to reduce the score to 20 – 10. The last 20 minutes were Cinderford’s with the backs moving the ball through hands and making good ground.

Old Pats conceded a number of penalties, which saw Cinderford move the ball quickly through the forwards for Lewis Smith to cap an excellent game with a try.

In all a big improvement and a never say die attitude.
