Under 12's Tour
Cheddar U12s 5 Cinderford U12s 20
Cinderford ventured of on tour to Weston and took part in the Cheddar festival on the Sunday. After a run on the beach to shake of the beer and kebabs and with a very strong gathering of teams the boys played hosts Cheddar first and started very well with the backs playing the best rugby of the season a simple back line move saw Charlie Alexander score a great try, quickly followed by AJ Jenkins who ran strongly all day. The forwards pushed Cheddar off the scrum with locks Leadbeater and Miles to the fore centre Dan Pearson sped over with one more try needed for a bonus point the hardworking Matt Alcock scored a fine try. Winger Guy Pearson went close in the dying minutes.
Clevedon U12s 0 Cinderford U12s 10A much closer second game again saw the Forest boys on top. In the scrum against a heavy Clevedon side the front row of Morgan, Kemp and Hopwood was outstanding. From a good scrum the ball was moved quickly and a busy scrum half, who enjoyed a good tournament Andrew Hoult scored. Fly half Charlie Davis was setting his back line away at every chance and centre Harry Johnson made good ground to allow No 8 Alcock to diver over. Good running from lock Adam Marsh kept Clevedon deep in their half as the full time whistle sounded.
Chew Valley U12s 5 Cinderford U12s 15The Chew side were a difficult test winning all their previous games but the Forest boys were soon on the front foot with winger Jack Richards looking dangerous with some good footwork scoring a fine try wide out. Next to Score was prop Nathan Morgan who drove over strongly. Cinderford lost their impressive hooker Will Kemp with a back injury but replacement Adam Hughes was soon into his stride. Winger Mitch Skelton made a fine tackle and from the turn over the backs again moved the ball well and scrum half Hoult pounced for the winning score.
Wellington U12s 0 Cinderford U12s 0Cinderford now faced a tough Somerset side needing to win or draw to reach the final. The game started at some speed with AJ Jenkins going close then the backs losing possession when a four on one went begging as the pass was dropped. Great defence from the whole side with Harry Johnson to the fore ensured that the draw was achieved and Cinderford were in the final.
Keynsham U12s 5 Cinderford U12s 0Following a long wait the final got underway with neither side giving any ground, the forward battle was intense with both sides tackling well. After tacking like demons all day the big Keynsham number 10 broke the first tackle and ran in to score wide out. A tremendous fight took place with the Foresters laying siege to the Keynsham line however with the dying seconds approaching the referee blew up for full time ending the game with the boy’s very disappointed but worthy runners up.
