Cinderford Match Report

Cinderford 26 Old Richians 7

Following the Christmas break the Cinderford lads were back in action against a useful Richians side.

The opening exchanges were even with scrum half Andrew Hoult playing well, The forwards were providing good ball and the hard working AJ Jenkins scored a good early try, Hooker Nathan Morgan was having a fine game with some good line out work and the rest of the forwards were pushing Richians off the scrum ball. Centre Charlie Davis was making some good runs and his sharp reactions saw him snatch a great interception to race away and score.

A poor touch kick allowed Richians to put on some pressure but Davis intercepted again to score his second quick try. William Kemp and Matt Allcock were again very effective in the tackle and were dynamic in the rucks, Next to score was prop Jordan Hopwood who powered over from close range. Hooker Morgan completed a fine day converting three tries.

Cinderford 7 Gloucester Old Boys 7

In the second game Cinderford played against an Old Boys side with several older players and acquitted themselves very well.

The most impressive aspect was the defence with Allcock, Kemp, Skelton, and Davis making some great tackles. Harry Johnson had a great game playing number 8, Scrum half and centre, in an impressive performance. Old Boys pounded away at the Cinderford line and their big prop broke away with only winger Charlie Alexander to beat he made the tackle of the season to stop him and dislodge the ball, It was a tackle that made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, quite brilliant.

Following this excitement Cinderford worked their way up field and Harry Johnson plunged over to bring the side closer, Hooker Nathan Morgan had the kick to draw the game and coolly slotted it over as the final whistle went.
