Cinderford's journey into the unknown proved to be a successful one, as they claimed a bonus point victory in an exhilarating match against league new boys Ealing.

Eleven tries were scored in near perfect conditions at the Trial Finders sports ground. The game started at a breath-taking pace and continued in the same vein throughout.

Cinderford had the better of the early exchanges. When Ealing were penalised for crossing, Tristan Roberts opened the scoring with a simple penalty.

Shortly afterwards, a deliberate knock-on by the home side allowed Roberts to make it 6-0 with his second penalty.

Ealing responded with a superb individual try from winger Owen Bruynseels. He gathered the ball deep in his own half and set off on an angled run that took him past the cover defence for an unconverted try in the corner.

After this it was all Cinderford as they raced into a 38-5 lead by half-time.

Firstly, a charge-down by Dewi Scourfield saw the centre gather up the ball and put winger Mike Hart over for a try which Roberts converted.

Turnover ball deep in their own half enabled James Copsey and Mike Wallis to combine and put Toby Wilson over for an excellent score, again converted by Roberts.

The classy outside-half was on target with a drop-goal from the halfway line before kicking his third penalty when Ealing fell offside.

Cinderford then swept up-field with Copsey putting Wilson away for his second touchdown.

Soon after, Copsey out-sprinted the home defence himself after the ball went through numerous pairs of hands in a dashing move from the visitors' 22.

Ealing's half-time team talk certainly had the desired effect as they responded with two tries within the opening 10 minutes of the second period.

Wingers Kiba Richards and David Essien touched down with Ben Ward converting one.

A fine run by scrum-half Will Merivale saw Cinderford press for another score. The ball was recycled under the Ealing posts and the referee had no hesitation in awarding a penalty-try when the home side went offside. Roberts added the conversion.

Another superb run from man of the match Copsey opened up the home defence again and Merivale sprinted over for the try. Once again, Roberts converted.

In the closing stages of the match Ealing gained a deserved bonus point when their best player Essien crossed for his second try of the match. Ward converted.

In injury-time, Bruynseels crossed for his second score.

Ward's conversion made the final score slightly more respectable for the home team. However, this was a great day's work for Peter Glanville's men.
