Danny Trigg, still only 22, scored his 1,000th point for Cinderford's first XV in Saturday's 50-17 win at Luton.

However, with Tristan Roberts now back after his excursions with England Counties, there are no guarantees that Trigg will even have the kicking duties against North Walsham at home this Saturday.

Trigg was still a colt when he made his competitive first-team debut back in September 2003 in a 36-11 win over Keynsham in South West One. The former Heywood School pupil subsequently took advantage of an injury to Mike Hart to cement a regular first XV place for himself that season, while also picking up the club's Jim Beard colt of the year trophy.

It was against Keynsham in 2005 that Trigg became the first player in Cinderford's history to score more than 400 points in a season. He smashed the record of 379 points for a season (held by Mark Roberts) with a phenomenal tally of 455, as Cinderford finally gained promotion from South West One to the National Leagues. Trigg scored 12 tries and kicked 103 conversions and 63 penalties that year. A serious wrist injury blighted last season, but the full-back has returned in great form for this current campaign. Cinderford's director of rugby Pete Glanville, who handed Trigg his debut four years ago, said: "Danny is a real rock at the back for us and all aspects of his game are good. He makes breaks and joins the line when necessary and his tackling is excellent.

"It's testament to our squad that he's not guaranteed to have the kicking duties - he's aware that it's all about form.

"He is now maturing and gaining a lot more confidence. To score so many points at such a young age is a fantastic achievement."
