Cinderford Match Report
Cinderford Stags 27 Drybrook II 0
Cinderford Stags score four tries to nil in beating Drybrook II at the Cinderford Bridge ground. The Stags remain unbeaten in the GRFU Merit Table, Div 1 this season.
The first half began with Stags forwards exerting early pressure. However, the Drybrook pack equalled what the Stags had to offer and defended well. Ten minutes into the game Andrew Mudway scored the first try of the match after a spell of heavy pressure near the Drybrook line. Mudway broke from a maul 8 metres out and crashed over near the posts. On the half hour, Danny Clark ripped the ball a maul near the half way line and beat several tackles in sprinting in between the posts. Fly half Jason Rowles converted.
The second half began with a rally from Drybrook, but the Stags fought back to force a penalty which Rowles converted. With half an hour to go lock forward Shane Davis came on to replace Andy Boxall. Within five minutes Davis had made his mark. Fielding a clearance kick from Drybrook, Davis made ten metres, drew a defender and passed to wing Ryan Davis who scored in the corner. Later on, some enterprising play resulted in Rowles scoring wide out which he followed up with a fine touchline conversion.
