Cinderford Stags 32 Old Richians II 3

Played at the Bridge groundin good conditions, the Stags made hard work of overcoming the Old Richians defence.

It soon became apparent that the Stags pack had the ascendency in the scrum with the front row dominating. The Stags forward onslaught resulted in three tries by the twenty minute mark. A couple of forward drives saw captain and number eight Jonny Jelf crash over for the first try, followed by prop Mark Bluett a few moments later for the second. Luke Beard converted. A little later and from a similar position lock forward Shane Davis drove over to score. The later stages of the first half saw the Stags sit back and rest on their laurels and it finished with the Stags 17 points to nil up.

Half Time : Cinderford Stags 17 Old Richians II 0

The second half started with the Stags going through the motions, taking nothing away from Old Richians who were defending well. A brief foray by Old Richians into the Stags half resulted in an Old Richians penalty which was converted by their outside half. Eventually, the Stags sprang back to life. The pack began to drive with purpose and hit rucks to win quick ball. Beneficiaries of this possession were Dany Parry who scored two tries and Mike Jelf who skipped through a couple of tackles to score the sixth and final try. The final score was 32 points to 3 in the Stags favour.
