Cinderford United 53 – St Mary’s Old Boys 32

Cinderford United turned on the style in the second half to secure an impressive victory in a hugely entertaining Counties 2 Gloucestershire clash against St Mary’s Old Boys.

With the contest finely balanced early on, United showed real grit and attacking intent after the break, pulling away with a dominant spell that proved decisive.

Reilly Scriven crossed the whitewash twice, with further tries coming from Jack Hall, Sam Baker and Will Baldwin. Sustained pressure also forced St Mary’s OB into conceding a penalty try as United’s forwards began to take control.

A special mention goes to Luke McMahon, who made a very welcome return from injury. McMahon capped his comeback with a try of his own, while also adding five conversions and two penalties in a commanding all-round performance from the tee.

A strong second-half showing, plenty of attacking rugby and an excellent team effort ensured United finished on the right side of a high-scoring encounter.
