Cinderford welcomes Esher at home
Saturday 2 March KO – 2.30pm (
SSE National 1)

This weekend Cinderford takes on Esher RFC who sit fourth in the table, whilst the Foresters are at ninth. Cinderford is looking to secure another nail biting win in front of a passionate home crowd.

Said Andy Deacon, director or rugby: “Esher will be a tough opponent for us today but in recent home games we have risen to the challenge and upped our game. On Saturday we will have to perform to the best of our ability. Our last outing at Blackheath was very frustrating where we had a terrific first half with the only blip being not scoring when we had the chance. This did prove to be our downfall when Blackheath came hard at us down the slope. We need to learn how to exit efficiently sometimes with the boot, other times through the hand.”

“Game management is where we will improve and learn from our experiences. The set piece continues to improve which will help us move on and up the table and reach our targets. Our aim is to also take our home game confidence and performance on the road and improve our away game record in the final two months.”

“I would also like to congratulate Ben West and Jack Adams on playing for England Counties and beating France Federale last weekend. I went to watch them along with Dave and Paul. As VIP guests we were made very welcome at Ealing Trailfinders and it was a good occasion to network with other directors of rugby from National 1 under non-match circumstances. Mike Old, the England Counties director, was full of praise for our guys and they both had great games. A credit to Cinderford.”

Team changes see Jack Preece come into the side as hooker with Tom Bozzard moving to the bench. Gloucester Rugby loan player Rob Langley replaces Will Foden on rotation at seven and Joe Garner starts at eight. This week also allows the opportunity for Jack Adams to captain the side.

Cinderford United are away to Bargoed in South Wales.

Good luck to both teams.
