This was a very evenly contested game which could have gone either way. From the off Cinderford made an impressive start and were camped on the opposition 22 for a considerable amount of the first half. A few outbreaks by Cwmbran and some nicely weighted kicks saw brief relief for the Cwmbran defence the half was dominated by Cinderford but ended scoreless.
The second half continued in much the same vein until 10 minutes before the end, when a good move from Cwmbran saw them camped on the Cinderford try line. Cinderford’s defence eventually caved and a try wide out was converted to take the score to 7-0.

Entering the closing stages of the match Cinderford made a last ditch attempt to get back into the game and work a drive from a lineout for Jake Bonser go over in the corner. The conversion was unfortunately put wide to take the score to 7-5. With just minutes to go Cinderford kept the pressure up, but fell foul of a few decisions and ultimately failed to convert pressure to points leaving the final score at 7-5.

Despite the defeat, alot of positives can be taken from the game with team captain Luke Crunden leading the side well.

Cinderfords next game will be on Wednesday 19th September against Filton College at home.
