Cinderford United 74 – 5 Old Richians
Cinderford United returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion with a dominant 74–5 victory over Old Richians in their Counties 2 Gloucestershire clash.
After the disappointment of defeat the previous week, United produced a powerful attacking display at the Bell Sports & Rugby Park, running in nine tries and growing stronger as the game progressed.
Both Will Baldwin and Will Anderson starred with outstanding performances, each completing a hat-trick of tries as United’s attacking play proved far too much for the visitors to contain.
Further tries came from James Kear, who crossed twice, alongside Jack Hall, Louis Jayne, Brendan Llewelyn, and Tom Samak, who also made a significant contribution with the boot.
Samak was in excellent form throughout the afternoon, adding seven conversions to cap off a strong individual performance as United kept the scoreboard ticking over.
United manager Paul Morris was pleased with the response from his side following the previous week’s setback.
“It was a good afternoon for the United after a disappointing defeat last week. We were able to play with some freedom and got better and better as the game went on. Our skill set and game management were as they should be.”
Paul also praised the visitors for their attitude throughout the contest.
“I would like to give Old Richians some genuine credit. It’s not easy to be in the position they are but they showed up and played with real heart, guts and respect for each other and their club. They never gave up. Cinderford United have great respect for them.”
Attention now quickly turns to cup action for United.
“We now move on to a Combination Cup on Thursday at Berry Hill before two season-defining league games to finish off our March fixtures,” added Morris.
The comprehensive victory keeps United firmly on course as the season enters a crucial stage.
