Cleve RFC 7-13 Cinderford United

Cinderford United made a winning start to their new season in Western counties North with a narrow 13-7 win at Cleve.  An early penalty allowed the away side to kick to the corner and it wasn’t long before Toby Powell managed to drive over with the conversion just wide.  It was then Joe Lanbridge who kicked a penalty to make it 8-0 at half time.

Cleve started second half and were unlucky not to score but it was Cinderford’s defence which held them out.  Cleve kept coming and Cinderford were eventually given a yellow card for an apparent collapsed drive. Cleve Managed to eventually score a try under the sticks to make it 8-7.

Cinderford dug deep and held firm with some great shots in the midfield and some much-needed turnovers which allowed them to kick down field which then after a couple of pick and go’s allowed Jayden hardy to go over from short range.

Credit to Cleve who really made the boys work to get the win.
