Cinderford Step Up to ‘Must Win’ Game v Sedgley Tigers
Saturday 24 November (KO 2.30pm National 1)

This Saturday the Forest side travels up North to take on Sedgley Park, in what is now billed as a must-win game for the team. After two defeats on the bounce the points are now vital, to maintain the current league position. Sedgley Park are not in a good place right now after recent results have put them in the drop zone.  Cinderford are placed sixth in the league

Said Andy Deacon, director of rugby: “If we are to meet our aspirations of finishing in the top four we must show Sedgley Park the respect they deserve, but ultimately we must come away with maximum points.”

“Following a lack lustre performance last weekend we have trained on playing smart, direct, clinical rugby, especially as weather conditions have deteriorated this week. All players are focused and have a thorough understanding of the game plan for this fixture. It’s all about percentage rugby, so when we are in defence we get out efficiently, and in the attacking zone we take the opportunity and score. We have spent time working on skills to reduce penalty counts and take early command of the game. It’s as much a mental thing with us, as we have shown we can deliver winning rugby. If we can replicate what we do in training we will get back to our good form.”

Changes to this week’s side see Joe Smart come in for Tom Heard who has an AC joint problem. Joe Garner starts at 8 while George Evans goes to the bench. Leigh Green replaces Nick Selway on the bench and Dave McKee continues in second row for Ben West who has a back niggle. Stuart Bailey comes onto the bench for Nico Woodward who has a tricep injury.

Cinderford United travel away again to play Luctonians 2 as do Cinderford Stags who are way to Clifton 2.
Good luck to all Cinderford teams this weekend in what will be very muddy, wet and heavy conditions.
