Cinderford 14 – Camborne 19

League leaders pushed all the way in a fierce Bell Park battle

League leaders Camborne arrived at the Bell Sports & Rugby Park knowing they’d be in for a test — and Cinderford certainly delivered one. In a tight, physical contest full of momentum swings, the visitors edged home 19–14, but only after a hugely spirited display from the Foresters.

Camborne struck first on 14 minutes, winger Harry Larkins finishing out wide to give his side an early advantage, though the conversion drifted wide.

Cinderford’s reply was full of grit. A long spell of pressure deep in Camborne territory forced repeated infringements, and the referee had seen enough — penalty try, plus a yellow card for Jordan Nicholls, bringing Bell Park to life.

But Camborne showed why they’re top of the table, hitting back before the break. A powerful maul marched toward the line and hooker Ben Priddey touched down, with Kyle Moyle adding the extras for a 12–7 half-time lead.

The second half started with a bang — and it was all Cinderford. Spotting a loose pass, Sam Smith intercepted deep inside his own 22 and raced the length of the field to score a sensational solo try. Sonny Greenman slotted the conversion and Cinderford were back in front at 14–12.

What followed was a scrappy, tense period where neither side could find rhythm. Cinderford shaded territory and pressure, but key decisions went Camborne’s way and the visitors slowly worked themselves back into striking distance.

With just ten minutes to go, they made their moment count. From close range, Sam Matavesi powered over, and Moyle’s conversion nudged Camborne back into the lead — a lead they held onto until the final whistle.

Not the result Cinderford wanted, but a performance full of heart, physicality and flashes of quality against the league’s top side.
