Cinderford RFC are delighted to announce the signing of wing Ed Sheldon from Hartpury RFC. Ed, 25, will join up with the Foresters when they begin training for the 2019-20 season on July 2nd at St Peter’s School, Tuffley, Gloucester.

Sheldon began his rugby career in the minis and juniors at Dursley RFC. He played in all the age groups available, including the colts, and appeared in the Dursley 1st XV as a 17 year old. Ed then moved up a level to Thornbury RFC for 3 seasons until the age of 21. During this period Sheldon also represented Gloucestershire at age group levels including the Under 20s and at this age group he also represented the South West Under 20s. At 21 Sheldon made the move to Birmingham Moseley in the championship for the 2015-16 season but ruptured a knee ACL in a pre season match against Leinster. Moseley were relegated to National One at the end of that season but season 2016-17 saw Sheldon return and finish the season as the leagues second highest individual try scorer with 21 tries as Moseley finished fifth behind champions Hartpury.

Sheldon moved to Hartpury in the summer of 2017 and has played for the championship club for the last two seasons.

Cinderford Director of Rugby Paul Morris commented “Ed is an excellent signing for us. He’s a natural finisher who will add some real potency to our back division and attack. He can play full back as well as wing so we have options in how we can use him. His last season in National One saw him score over 20 tries so we need to utilise him in the right way for him to demonstrate his finishing prowess. It’s fair to say that he didn’t play as much as he was hoping to last season for Hartpury so Ed is keen for the coming season and some enhanced rugby involvement.”
