Cinderford 54 – Devonport Services 33

Cinderford produced an impressive attacking display to defeat Devonport Services in an entertaining 13-try encounter at a sun-drenched Bell Sports & Rugby Park.

Sean Gardner crossed three times for the hosts, while Callum McCabe added a brace. Devonport’s Henry Clement also claimed a hat-trick as the visitors mounted a spirited second-half response.

Cinderford opened the scoring through Reilly Scriven, who touched down near the posts following a clever offload from Tyler Jerrum. Joe Winfield added the conversion.

After competitive exchanges and strong defensive work from the hosts, McCabe extended the lead with an excellent individual effort, collecting the ball deep and beating several defenders. Winfield converted again.

Gardner then finished a well-worked move down the right, with Winfield’s conversion taking Cinderford into a 21–0 lead.

Devonport responded through Clement, who broke through the defence and showed good pace to score. Archie Gray converted.

Cinderford regained control as Gardner raced over for his second try before Mattie Cotton added another. Winfield converted both to give the hosts a commanding 35–7 advantage at half-time.

Gardner completed his hat-trick just two minutes into the second half, although the conversion was unsuccessful.

The visitors then enjoyed their strongest spell. Gray intercepted inside Devonport’s half and, after being brought down, offloaded for Clement to score his second try. Billy Orchard converted.

Charlie Groves added another converted try, reducing the deficit to 40–21 with 20 minutes remaining.

Cinderford answered through Josh Horrobin, who scored beneath the posts following a scrum, allowing Winfield to add the conversion.

Devonport continued to compete and Lewis Woolaway crossed after sustained pressure, although the conversion was missed.

The hosts’ scrum provided the platform for their final try. Following a powerful effort up front, Cinderford moved the ball left for McCabe to claim his second, with Winfield landing a difficult conversion.

Clement completed his own hat-trick late on, with Orchard converting to bring the final score to 54–33.

Cinderford’s eight tries reflected a strong collective performance, while Devonport’s determined response ensured the contest remained entertaining throughout.
